A Month for Marriage

Both cakes in this post were vanilla with raspberry filling and decorated with the same swirling technique.

This first cake is a two tiered cake that I made in honor of my cousin and his new wife.  They didn't have a reception, but we still wanted to give them the opportunity to cut a cake ;D

This next cake I made for the wedding of a very good friend of mine.

Here, we have the chocolate fudge cupcakes that served as the grooms cake at the wedding.

Let's go Lego!

This is a Lego cake I did for a baby shower.  The top is blocked out in different colors with Spree candies to make it look like the Lego Duplo blocks.  Around the border of the cake I used the edible Lego candies.

My Big Fat LATE Wedding post...

In all my slackness, I have also failed to post the two wedding cakes I have done over the past few months.  Go ahead and take a gander now...

This cake was mostly the creation of my sweet mother.  I helped with the detail work on the top and bottom layers as well as with the flower topper.  I brushed the white mum with blue food coloring, and likewise tipped the white roses with red, to add a little pop of color.  The silver beads are edible and the cake is covered in marshmallow fondant.

This beauty was for my darling friend Alice's wedding just this past weekend.  Her theme was "Gatsby" with a flair of art deco.  This is a vanilla cake, covered in marshmallow fondant.  The top and bottom layers were colored mint green, while the center layer had to be sprayed with edible gold paint to achieve that color.  The detail work on the top and bottom layers is done with a gold dust paint.  The dust is generally used to accent frosting, but when mixed with lemon extract creates a great edible paint good for detail.  The cakes is surrounded by a gold and diamond trim, with a tulle bow at the top.

Cupcake Crawl

I have been SUUUPER slack in posting over the past few months.  So here is an update of what I've been up to in the realm of cupcakes!

These are a very special gluten free, dairy free, sugar free cupcake that I made for a friend of mine who has these diet restrictions.  They were made with rice flour and sweetened with molasses and honey.

Tragically, it's been so long since I made these, that I don't even remember what flavor they are.  I really want to say they are just a heavenly chocolate cupcake with a chocolate butter cream icing.

These little lovelies are Toblerone Cupcakes!  They are a honey almond cake with a honey chocolate icing and of course, topped with slivered almonds.  AND there is a piece of Toblerone melted in the center of each cake :)

These are the Triple Chocolate Valentines Cupcakes.  They are a dark chocolate cake, with a melted dark chocolate Dove candy in the center, topped with chocolate butter cream icing and another dark chocolate Dove candy - and of course, heart sprinkles.

Doctor Who?

This post is WAY past due...

Here is a cake I did for a friend's birthdayseveral  weeks ago. It is a simple but delicious marble cake, showing the world that "bow ties are cool."

Haunted Halloween

I made these cupcakes for a friend who was having a party for her nieces and nephews :)

The Frankensteins are chocolate and the ghosts are vanilla! Pretty simple, but so dang cute!

Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes

Fall is just around the corner and with it comes so many things I love! Falling leaves, hot chocolate, soup, sweaters...and pumpkin flavored everything!
These are my Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes helping me welcome in the season. They're just a traditional pumpkins spice cake topped with vanilla cinnamon icing and sprinkled with nutmeg.
